Park & ride from NESCOT, Reigate Road, Ewell
Free rides on classic buses - timetable here
The railway line from Raynes Park to Epsom was opened 150
years ago, on 4 April 1859. Worcester Park Station, where our
2008 event was based, is one of the
stations on the line, but the only station with its
original building* is Ewell West.
To mark the 150th anniversary, there will be a local celebration on Saturday 4
April, from 1000 to 1600, for which four former London Transport
buses will be providing a free bus service between NESCOT, Ewell
Village, Ewell West Station and West Ewell. Click here for a
timetable.
Free feeder bus services
will run from elsewhere in Surrey, or you can come by service bus
467 (the modern successor to the 468) or by
train (note that due to
engineering works, trains run only between Guildford and Raynes
Park).
If coming by car, please park in the car park of
NESCOT (the North
East Surrey College of Technology), on the A240 Reigate Road south
of the Ewell Bypass. A regular free park & ride service
runs between there and the station.
This event occurs the day before the huge Annual Spring Bus
& Coach Gathering at Wisley Airfield, Surrey, organised by
Cobham Bus Museum.
For many years, the only
bus service serving Ewell West Station was the 468, operated by the
Country Bus Department of London Transport and later by London
Country Buses.
The route was operated by
Leatherhead Garage, where RT4779 is seen in the mid-1960s.
